Paul and June MacMillan, and John, Janet, James and Jaelyn Drynan own and
operate Maple Ridge Belgians. Paul was raised on an Ontario Century farm
in Cumberland, Ontario, where they farmed with horses. A tractor, purchased in the early
fifties, supplemented the work that the horses did. When Paul's
father passed away in 1973 there was still a Belgian gelding on
the farm and he purchased his first registered Belgian mare that
fall.
We have been showing our horses in halter classes since 1977. In 1989 we
bought show harness and hitched up to a four-horse hitch until 1996. We still
compete in line classes and on occasion have hitched in a mare cart class. Each
year we raise a few foals, with some available for sale in the fall.
In 2006, the horses moved from Cumberland to a new stable
at the Drynan's place in Mountain, Ontario, located on county
road 43, between Kemptville and Winchester.
If you're in the area and would like to stop by, just give us
a call and we'd be glad to show you our horses.
