Welcome to our website, we're glad you stopped by. Maple Ridge Belgians is a small, family-run farm, located in Winchester, Ontario and is owned and operated by John, Janet, James and Jaelyn Drynan and Paul MacMillan.

A Bit of History...

Paul was raised on an Ontario Century farm in Cumberland, Ontario, where they farmed with horses since our ancestors settled the land. A tractor, purchased in the early fifties, supplemented the work that the horses did. When Paul's father passed away in 1973 there was still a Belgian gelding on the farm and that fall, he purchased his first registered Belgian mare. In 1977, we showed our horses in their first halter classes, and for several years we also hitched up to a four-horse hitch.

Now...

In 2006, the horses moved from Cumberland to a new barn at the Drynan's place in Mountain. Then, in the fall of 2020, they moved again to Winchester, Ontario. Our new farm comprises 140 acres and enabled us to expand the operation to include cash crops.

John and Janet now take care of the day to day operations and breeding program with the help of their two kids James and Jaelyn. Each year we raise several foals and also continue to actively compete with halter horses, and the occasional cart, at shows across Ontario and some of the upper U.S. states.
